Yesterday I attend a memorial service where members of the Prince Hall Eastern Stars of Pennsylvania held a memorial service that honors our members who have died over the past 12 months. For me the highlight of the service was the sermon presented by SiStar Min. Richelle Hines entitled: “1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi”. So today I want to share with you some of the points she had in her outstanding message. Most of us who are 30 or older should have played outside with other children and played the game “Hide and Go Seek”. It’s the game where one person is chosen to be “It” and they have to cover their eyes and begin to count ” 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, etc..,” while the other children go and hide. After everyone is hidden the “It” person would go look for them and if they found you and touched you before you got to home base you would become “It”, but if you got to home base before they found you and touched you then you would be safe. Our lives can be compared to the game Hide and Seek. We spend our time running and hiding from death and most times we are found to be safe because of GOD’S grace and mercy. Then sooner or later we are caught by death and we become “It”. Beloved, in this life you can run and you can hide from death for a while but you can’t run and hide forever. One day you will be caught and you will become “It”. But there is a way that you can become “It” and still be safe. All you have to do is accept JESUS as your LORD and SAVIOR and HE will give you the Salvation and Everlasting Life you need so that when you become “IT” you are still safe. Yes while you are playing the life game Hide and Seek you have to know JESUS and be able to sing the words of this popular song of the church. I’m sure you know it, so sing it with me: “What a fellowship, what a joy divine, Leaning on the everlasting arms. What a blessedness, what a peace is mine, Leaning on the everlasting arms. Leaning on JESUS. Leaning on JESUS. Safe and secure from all alarms. Leaning on JESUS. Leaning on JESUS. Leaning on the everlasting arms. AMEN!
Rev. Rocky Brown, thank you so much for your encouraging words and for allowing the Lord to use you to “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…”! The Word must not be kept to ourselves, it is to be shared among nations, that we may all know that Jesus is alive and well and still saving lives!!! We must be ready when He returns!!!
