It’s a “Stop Being Fake” Monday.
LORD HELP US TO BE REAL WITH AND FOR ONE ANOTHER AS YOU ARE WITH AND FOR US. AMEN.
I have worked with children for years and I have come to realize that they are quick to detect pretense and shun the pretender. Only the genuine, the true man or woman, can hope to lead them along life’s journey. So for our peoples sake my friends it’s time for us to stop being fake. Young people are always talking about keeping real or keeping it 100. So with that thought in mind I wrote the following rhyme, it’s called:
“Stop Being Fake”
“Beloved, for our peoples sake, we got to stop being fake.
You see, you tell what you are by the friends you seek,
By the manner in which you speak.
By the way you employ your leisure time,
By the use you make of your dollar and dime.
You tell what you are by the things you wear,
By the spirit in which your burdens bear.
By the kind of thing at which you laugh,
By the music you play to lighten your path.
You tell what you are by the way you walk,
By the things that make you happy when you talk.
By the manner in which you bear defeat,
By so simple a thing as to the food you eat.
By the books you choose from the well filled shelf;
In these ways and more, you tell on yourself. So there’s really no particle of sense, in any effort at pretense.
So for our children’s sake my friends it’s time to start being real and stop being fake.”
AMEN lights and walls, lap tops and computers, notebooks and iPads.
