I often tell my staff that we ought to be very careful how we treat our residents for without them we would not have a job or place of business. Because of them we have an income. Because of them we are able to provide for ourselves and our families. Likewise, with anybody who supports your business is a customer and customers are to be treated with respect. No matter what the profession the name means the same…customer.
The lawyer calls him a client.
The doctor/counselor calls him a patient.
The hotel calls him a guest.
The editor calls him a subscriber.
The broadcaster calls him a listener – viewer.
The cooperative calls him a patron.
The retailer calls him a shopper.
The educator calls him a student.
The manufacturer calls him a dealer.
The politician calls him a constituent.
The banker calls him a depositor – borrower.
The sports promoter calls him a fan.
The railroad/airlines call him a passenger.
The minister calls him a parishioner.
Yes you may give a professional name to the person who buys your product or service but no matter what you call him, he is always the customer. No matter what you call him, you need to thank God for blessing you with a product or service that they are willing to buy. So when you think about it they are an answer to our prayers.
