TEACH US TO FORGIVE

January 8th

It’s a “Teach Us to Forgive” Day

LORD, TEACH AND HELP US TO FORGIVE OTHERS FOR NONE OF US ARE PERFECT AND WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES. AMEN.

It’s winter time and cold outside, but we must not let our hearts be cold towards someone who did us wrong. We must learn to forgive. Remember when Jesus taught us to pray? He said for us to say “forgive our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” In other words, if you want to be forgiven you must first learn to forgive. Many of us have been mad with others so long that we don’t even remember what they did and why we are mad. Life is too short let it go.

All of us should be able to say “Lord treat me tomorrow, the way I treat other people today!” Think about it and say this with me “Today I will forgive and I’m going to let it go!” Now don’t you feel better? Like that old song says ‘I feel better since I laid my burdens down.’ One of my church members once told me that they had a friend do them so wrong that they told them, “I forgive you but don’t ever speak to me again!” Many of us have spoken those words or have had those thoughts. Once again I believe we should always be able to say: “Lord treat me tomorrow the way I treat others today”. Now suppose, just suppose God said to us, “I forgive you but don’t ever speak to me again!” WOW, that hurts my heart. But Thanks be to God He doesn’t think, talk or act like us!

Each day we need to strive to be more like Jesus. Remember He said “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”!!! Then He died on the cross for us. Now that’s love and real forgiveness. My friends Forgiveness is not just spoken it must also be done with our actions. Somebody ought to give Him some praise and do the Holy Ghost Slide Up In Here Up In Here! Can I get an Amen?
