WHO DO YOU WORK FOR ?

January 12th

It’s a “Who Do You Work For?” Day

LORD, HELP US NOT TO BE WEARY IN WELL DOING WHILE WE DO YOUR WORK. GIVE US THE DETERMINATION AND STRENGTH BECAUSE TRULY THE HARVEST IS PLENTIFUL AND LABORERS ARE ALWAYS FEW. AMEN.

The other day I realized that all the work I do is for The Lord. I’m an Assistant Pastor; I’m a Police Chaplain, and I’m a Program Manager of a Homeless Shelter. These positions require me to service people which means that I work for The Lord. Now one might ask the question why do I work for The Lord? Well:

  1. He chose me to do the work. For many are called, but few are chosen. (Matthew 22:14 KJV)
  2. The field is large. The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; (Matthew 13:38 KJV)
  3. The need is great. Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. (John 4:35 KJV)
  4. The time is now. For do I now persuade men or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. (Galatians 1:10 KJV)
  5. The call is urgent. And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, why stand ye here all the day idle? (Matthew 20:6 KJV)
  6. The work is varied. For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:12 KJV)
  7. The partner is almighty. We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. (2 Corinthians 6:1 KJV)
  8. The means are provided. And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. (Luke 19:15 KJV)

“I do not do the work my soul to save –

For that my Lord has already done;

No, I will work like any slave

Because I love God’s dear Son!”
