It’s a “Who Are You Going There To See?” Day
LORD, HELP US TO KEEP THE FOCUS ON YOU WHEN COME TO YOUR HOUSE TO WORSHIP. AMEN.
Every year during the month of August our Pastor goes on vacation and every year during this time attendance seems to go down. Well last week, one of our old faithful members called and asked me, who was preaching and what choir was singing. My reply was: “I’m not sure who’s preaching, and I’m not sure what choir is singing. She responded by saying: “Well I’m not sure if I’m coming to church.” And this is what I said to her: “My dear sister even though I’m not sure who is preaching and who is singing. I am sure that God is real, and He will be in church on Sunday. I am also sure that whoever preaches, this same God, is going to use them and speak through them. I am also sure whoever is singing the Songs of Zion; God is going to use them and bless the hearts of those who hear them.” I don’t know about you, but I don’t go to church because of the preacher or the choir. No, I go to church to see Jesus. To be in His presence, worship at His altar and to have fellowship with the Body of Christ. For when the preacher is preaching, and when the choir is singing I hear Jesus. When I come to church, as long as I see Jesus everything is alright with me. You see, my faith is based on my relationship with God and not my Pastor or the choir. In my life and my worship experience, God is the focal point and not any human being. So it doesn’t matter who is going to preach or sing this Sunday. All that matters is that God will be in the place, and as long as He is in the place, I’m going to get a blessing. Can I get a witness?
There are some things I may not know,
There are some places I cannot go, but I am sure of this one thing,
That God is real for I can feel Him deep within.”
So when and if you go to church this week, who are you going there to see, Jesus or people like me?
