THE MEASURE OF A MAN

June 15th

It’s a “Measure Of A Man” Day.

LORD, WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR ABOUNDING GRACE AND MERCY THAT ALLOWS US TO SEE THIS DAY. MAY WE LIVE IN SUCH A WAY THAT NO ONE SPEAKS ILL OF US. AMEN.

I have been in the ministry for over 41 years, and I have officiated hundreds of funerals/memorial services. I have collected hundreds of materials to aid me in trying to get Gods’ message across to His people. One such poem, the author unknown, I present to you today. It’s one of my favorites, and I use it often. It is entitled:

                       “The Measure of a Man”

Not how did he die? But how did he live?

Not what did he gain? But what did he give?

These are the units To measure the worth

Of a man as a man Regardless of birth.

Not what was his station? But had he a heart?

And how did he play His God-given part?

Was he ever ready With a word of good cheer,

To bring back a smile, To banish a tear

Not what was his church? Nor what was his creed?

But had he befriended Those really in need?

Not what did the sketch In the newspapers say?

But how many were sorry When he passed away?

Amen, Lights & Walls!
