It’s a “Let Go Of The Past” Day
LORD, WE GIVE YOU THE HONOR AND THE GLORY BECAUSE YOU ARE THE GOD OF OUR SALVATION. AMEN.
All of us have positive and negative childhood memories. The good ones make us smile, and for some of us, the bad ones still make us cry. We all remember our parents saying, “What goes on in this house, stays in this house.” Now the reason they said that was two-fold.
First, they didn’t want the neighbors in our business and if possible, to give the appearance that we had the perfect family. I can see some of you shaking your heads. Like I said, if possible. LOL.
Secondly, they didn’t want others to know about the verbal, mental, physical and sexual abuse that was going on. These things for some of us still hurt our hearts because they are issues that have never been addressed. Philippians 3:13 tells us to forget those things which are behind us. GOD is calling us to live a happy and peaceful life by letting the past baggage go.
Now, you ask how do we let it go. Somebody say, “Break It Down, Brown!” Well, first you have to ACCEPT that it happened. Get rid of the denial. Second, you need to SHARE that it happened. Tell a family member or a friend exactly what happened. Third, you need to CONFRONT the issue. You do this by confronting the person who did the abuse and if necessary seek professional help through counseling and/or law enforcement.
Now, after you’ve done that you must seek GODS comfort and deliverance thru prayer. Yes “after you’ve done all you can you just stand.” Stand on HIS word that HE will send you a comforter. One who will stick closer than a brother. I’m sure you remember this song whose words are so true, “Be not dismayed whatever betide, GOD will take care of you. Beneath HIS wings of love abide. GOD will take care of you. Yes, GOD will take care of you. Thru every day, O’er all the way. HE will take care of you. GOD will take care of you. If you believe this, act like it! Can I get a witness?
