It’s an “ENCOURAGE YOURSELF” Day.
O LORD OUR GOD WE GIVE YOU THANKS FOR YOUR LOVE, YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT, AND YOUR BLESSINGS
I’ve been a member of the Body of Christ since I was born. First because of being raised by my grandmother Trustee Ethel Mae Brown and second because I accepted Jesus Christ at a young age.
Throughout my life no matter what I was doing I had a relationship with GOD and I was a member and attended somebody’s church. Yes, as I was growing up I did wrong, but I still belonged and attended. I was in the choir, on the usher board and a part of the teenage club. I did all these activities mainly because I was told to. If more parents were like my grandmother the children of today would be so different.
Well, that’s a whole other message. Anyway, what I want to say today is that as a Pastor and a Christian I can say that I love church folk, but to tell the truth and shame the devil, there are some mean folks in the Body of Christ. No matter what church you might belong to there are some mean folk there! Do you hear me?
If you want to be lied on, go to church. If you want to be spied on, go to church. If you want to be talked about, go to church. If you want your feelings hurt, go to church. The church is the one place that is supposed to be full of lovers. Lovers of GODS’ people that is, but it is full of haters. They are miserable, and they want you to be miserable too. How can we expect the lost, the worldly evildoers to join and to change when they see us acting like them?
There is a young lady in my church who GOD has given the gift of comedy. She will have you falling out in the pews. Unfortunately, there are some folk who just hate her ministry because it is new, it’s different, and she is good and funny. But for real for real or keeping it 100 (as the kids put it) they are haters because they are jealous. They are mad because they can’t do what she does.
GOD has given all of us unique gifts to use to bless others. You have yours’, I have mine, she has hers, ’ and he has his. What GOD has for me is for me and what GOD has for you is for you! Don’t worry about how someone else is using his or her gift you worry about how you are using yours.
Remember what goes around comes around. For you reap what you sow! So if you call yourself a child of GOD act like it and put down the hate and pick up brotherly and sisterly love. Get rid of the Hater-aid because it’s too bitter, stick with the Kool-Aid because it’s so sweet. We must edify one another as Christ edifies us. Yes, let us encourage one another for GOD commands us to do that. But most of all beloved GOD told me to tell you that sometimes you have to encourage yourself.
