It’s a “REAL FRIEND” Day
LORD, WE PRAISE AND THANK YOU FOR BEING OUR TRUE FRIEND. AMEN.
A friend is something that we all want and need. For we are social beings and friendships, help us with our growth and development. The BIBLE tells us in the book of Proverbs that in order to have a friend you must first be a friend. In other words, you must be one to get one. Now a real and true friend is hard to find. A lot of folks are our friends for selfish reasons with some negative hidden motives. They are not our friends but our enemies. They are the folk I call my “FRIENEMIES.” They will smile in your face and stab you in the back. We all have them in our lives. But a good friend, a true friend, a sincere friend, a real friend is so hard to find. So if you are blessed to have one or two of them, I’m telling you to treat them right and hold on to them tight. You see a real friend will be by your side when you are right and when you are wrong. A real friend will have your back thru thick and thin. A real friend will be there with you thru the storm, the rain and the pain. A real friend is what the young people call ‘A ride and die, friend.’
I’m blessed to have a few real and true friends, but I also have a lot of FRIENEMIES. Now the reason I say I’m blessed to have real true friends speaks for itself. But my FRIENEMIES are also a blessing because they make me appreciate my real friends. My FRIENEMIES are blessings because they make me lean and depend on JESUS. My FRIENEMIES are blessings because they make me realize that JESUS is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. My Momma taught me to sing a song that goes like this, come on sing it with me: “What a friend we have in JESUS, all our sins, and grieves to bare. What a privilege it is to carry everything to GOD in prayer.” So the message of the day is this: You need to always Thank GOD for JESUS, your real friends, and your FRIENEMIES. But the question GOD told me to ask you is this: “Is there anybody that calls you a FRIENEMIE?”
