DON’T YOU QUIT

April 25th

It’s a “Don’t You Quit” Day

LORD, HELP US NOT TO QUIT BECAUSE WE KNOW THE RACE DOESN’T GO TO THE SWIFT, NOR THE BATTLE TO THE STRONG, BUT TO THE ONE WHO ENDURES UNTIL THE END. AMEN.

To get ready to write my message each day I do three things: I pray, I meditate, and I read the Bible and other materials so that the message is spiritual, educational and motivational. I do this because I want it to be Gods message to and for His people. So today I present two poems I have read and put together. The authors are unknown, but the message from God is clear. You see, somebody reading this has quit doing something that God has called you to do, and your Heaven Father wants you to dust yourself off, wipe your hurt feelings down, pick yourself up and be about your Fathers business. They are called:

“Don’t Give Up and Don’t Quit.”

I’ve taught a class for many years; Borne many burdens – toiled through tears,

But folks don’t notice me a bit; I’m so discouraged – I’ll just quit.

Some time ago I joined the choir that many folks I might inspire;

But folks don’t seem moved a bit, and I won’t stand it. I’ll just quit.

I’ve led young people day and night And sacrificed to lead them right.

But folks won’t help me out a bit, And I’m so tired, I think I’ll quit.

Christ’s cause is hindered everywhere, and folks are dying in despair.

The reason why? Just think a bit; The Church is full of folks who quit. (So is the neighborhood).

SO

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low, and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,   When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest, if you must – but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about. When he might have won had he stuck it out; Don’t give up, though the pace seems slow – You might succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than It seems to a faint and faltering man, Often the struggler has given up when he might have captured the victor’s cup, And he learned too late, when the night slipped down, How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out – The silver tint of the clouds of doubt – And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems afar; So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit – It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.

Beloved, I hear somebody singing that song from the movie “The Color Purple”: GOD’S TRYING TO YOU SOMETHING.YES, HE IS!!!!! My friends, are you the One who quit? Look in the mirror, IS IT YOU? IS IT YOU?
