It’s a “Prayer of St. Francis” Day
LORD, BLESS US AND GIVE US YOUR PEACE. AMEN.
Being a Pastor and Chaplain for over 35 years, I have come to the realization that Prayer is one of the greatest tools I have to do my work. There is one prayer that I sometimes use and have always loved from the first time I heard it. It was written by Saint Francis of Assisi. I pray that it is a blessing to you as it has been a blessing to me over the years:
Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace!
Where there is hatred…let me sow love.
Where there is injury…pardon.
Where there is doubt…faith.
Where there is despair…hope.
Where there is darkness…light.
Where there is sadness…joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek ~
To be consoled…as to console,
To be understood…as to understand,
To be loved…as to love. For…
It is in giving…that we receive,
It is in pardoning…that we are pardoned,
It is in dying…that we are born to eternal life.
Let the church say Amen.
