PRAYERFUL

January 25th

It’s a “Prayerful” Day.

LORD, WE THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS HEARING AND ANSWERING OUR PRAYERS. AMEN.

We rise today with prayerful minds and hearts thanking GOD for always hearing and answering our prayers.  You see, in the African-American community, prayer has always been an important factor and one of the things that got us through the trials and tribulations of being Black in America. Our slave ancestors use to sing: “I went down to the river to pray, my soul got happy, so I stayed all day.”

Now we know being a slave you didn’t stay down the river praying all day because master would have had a fit. No, that was a way of them saying that praying, talking with GOD in the midst of their condition, made them feel blessed and happy to be alive. Which brings me to my point today. Beloved you are going to have some trials and tribulations in this life, and the only thing that can and will bring you through successfully is prayer. If prayer can’t do it, it can’t be done.

When I was a child, I attended Calvary Baptist Church in Chester, PA under the pastorate of the Rev Dr. J. Pius Barber, who was Rev Dr. Martin Luther King’s mentor when he attended Crozer Seminary. I remember singing these two songs about prayer: “It’s me, it’s me, it’s me O’ LORD, standing in the need of prayer. Not my mother nor my father nor my sister or my brother, but it’s me, old LORD, standing in the need of prayer.” The other one was: “Somebody prayed for me had me on their mind, took the time and prayed for me. I’m so glad they prayed, I’m so glad they prayed, I’m so glad they prayed for me. Can I get an AMEN?

My Grandmother Ethel Brown whom we called “Mother Dear” was the person who taught me about the importance of prayer and the one person I know, who always prayed for me. Now tell me who was that person that prayed for you?

This is Rev Dr. Wm. Rocky Brown, 3rd letting you know that GOD and I Love you, and we approve this message because we want to motivate your mind, body & soul. So be happy and enjoy the blessings of The LORD today my friend!
