MEASURE OF A MAN

It’s a “Measure Of A Man” Wednesday.

LORD WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR ABOUNDING GRACE AND MERCY THAT ALLOWS US TO SEE THIS DAY. MAY WE LIVE IN SUCH A WAY THAT NO ONE SPEAKS ILL OF US. AMEN.

I have been in the ministry for 35 years and I have officiated hundreds of funerals/memorial services. I have collected hundreds of materials to aid me in trying to get Gods’ message across to His people. One such poem, the author unknown, I present to you today. It’s one of my favorites and I use it often. It is entitled:

 “The Measure Of A Man”

 Not-how did he die?

But-how did he live?

Not-what did he gain?

But-what did he give?

These are the units

To measure the worth

Of a man as a man

Regardless of birth.

Not-what was his station?

But-had he a heart?

And how did he play

His God-given part?

Was he ever ready

With a word of good cheer,

To bring back a smile,

To banish a tear?

Not-what was his church?

Nor-what was his creed?

But-had he befriended

Those really in need?

Not-what did the sketch

In the newspapers say?

But-how many were sorry

When he passed away?

 Amen Lights & Walls!
