OUR NEW YEAR PLEDGE

January 4th

It’s “Our New Year Pledge” Day.

LORD, AS WE, SAY THIS PLEDGE LET US SAY IT WITH CONVICTION AND SINCERITY SO THAT IT BECOMES A DAILY PART OF OUR LIFE IN THE COMING DAYS, WEEKS AND MONTHS. AMEN.

I ask that you join me in saying the following pledge:

“Dear Master for this coming year

Just one request we bring:

We do not pray for happiness,

Or any earthly thing –

We do not ask to understand

The way You lead us,

But this we ask: Teach us to do

The thing that pleases You.

We want to know Your guiding voice,

To walk with You each day.

Dear Master make us swift to hear

And ready to obey.

And thus the year we now begin

A happy year will be –

If we are seeking just to do

The thing that pleases You.

So we pledge ourselves,

To follow through the coming year

The light which God gives us;

The light of Truth, wherever it may lead;

The light of Freedom, revealing new opportunities for personal development and social service:

The light of Faith, opening new visions of the better world to be;

The light of Love, daily binding brother to brother, sister to sister, brother to sister and mankind to guy in ever closer bonds of friendship and affection.

Guided by this light,

We shall go forward to the work of another year with steadfastness and confidence. This is our pledge so help us, God!” (Author Unknown)
