2nd GREAT COMMANDMENT

It’s a “2nd Great Commandment” Tuesday.

LORD, HELP US TO REALIZE THAT YOUR WORD IS UNIVERSAL BECAUSE YOU HAVE THE WHOLE WORLD IN YOUR HANDS. AMEN.

The great religions of the world express the second great commandment, given by Jesus, “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself”, like this:

Christianity: All things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them; for this is the law and the prophets.

Judaism: What is hateful to you, do not to your fellow-men. That is the entire law; all the rest is commentary.

Buddhism: Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful.

Islam: No one of you is a believer until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself.

Brahmanism: This is the sum of duty: Do nought unto others which would cause you pain if done to you.

Confucianism: Is there one maxim which ought to be acted upon through-out one’s whole life? Surely it is the maxim of loving-kindness: Do not unto others what you would not have them do unto you.

Taoism: Regard your neighbor’s gain as your own gain, and your neighbor’s loss as your own loss.

Zoroastrianism: That nature alone is good which refrains from doing unto others whatsoever is not good for itself.

So as you can see God and His rules and word are the same regardless of the religion, the culture, the nature or the language of His creation. AMEN.

  1. Love is the key. Yet, there is this fear of love that folks do not like to admit. It is the part of love that holds up a mirror and makes one look at oneself. So, because of that mirror reality, most folks do not show love, but pretense of care. If only most people realized that love defeats fear each and every time.
