PLEASING GOD

January 15th

It’s a “Pleasing GOD” Day

LORD, HELP US TO SPEND MORE TIME TRYING TO PLEASE YOU INSTEAD OF EACH OTHER. AMEN.

The story is told about an old man and his son. They were walking along a country road behind their donkey one day, as the donkey was contently nibbling on the grass along the way.

A man, seeing them both sweating profusely, remarked, “Look how foolish they are, walking instead of riding.” Hearing the remark, the man, and his son climbed on the donkey and rode through the next village where they heard another man exclaim, “They ought to be ashamed, making that poor old donkey carry two riders.” The father dismounted and walked while the son rode the donkey to the next village.

Then the father heard this commentary, “Poor old man! That boy should be ashamed, making his poor old dad walk!”

Then the father got on the donkey, while his son dismounted and walked for some distance. Finally, another villager made this observation, “Look at the old man riding, while his son has to walk. How cruel!”

The father rubbed his beard, shook his head and said to his son, “This is the lesson of the day. You can’t please any of the people all the time.”

So, beloved stop trying to please the people and spend more time pleasing God. So the question is: “Who are you trying to please today?”
