It’s a “Nobody but GOD” Saturday.
GOD WE PRAISE, THANK AND HONOR YOU FOR BEING REAL IN OUR LIVES. AMEN!
Yesterday I was talking to a friend,of many years, about life and life issues when she stated that she didn’t believe in GOD. Now when she said that I thought she was kidding but the more we talked the more I realized that she was serious. Therefore, the challenge for me is how can I convince this woman, in her late 60’s, that GOD is real. The one thing I did realize was that I was not going to change her mind during that conversation. But that is a goal of mine and she knows it. I need you to pray with me that somehow or someway I can prove to her by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT that GOD is real. Yes, I have a big challenge and my work as a Christian cut out for me. I don’t know about you but I love a challenge. Later on that night I thought about what she was saying and realized that a lot of people in this world who think just like her. Well I can’t speak for you, but I have to admit that I’m too afraid to talk or even think that way. I would rather believe in GOD and be wrong than not believe and be wrong. I have a respectful fear and love for GOD. So every time she said she didn’t believe there was a GOD I would tremble and I had a crazy look on my face. That’s why I was glad we were talking over the phone the old way and not using Skype. Boy I can’t imagine not believing in GOD. You see, I’m convinced that there are somethings in this universe and in this world that only GOD could have created and can do. First of all, who made the universe, the planets and the stars? Nobody but GOD. Who caused the sun to shine during the day and the moon at night? Nobody but GOD. Who made the planet earth with all its living creatures? Nobody but GOD. Who made man and woman and gave them intelligence to create? Nobody but GOD. Who made it so that humans and animal life, male and female could come together and produce an off spring? Nobody but GOD. Who created the seasons, the weather conditions, the rain, hail, sleet and snow? Nobody but GOD. Who causes the thunder to clap and the lightning to flash? Nobody but GOD. Who inspired Holy men to write the scriptures? Nobody but GOD. Who wakes me up in the morning and gives me health and strength? Nobody but GOD. Who heals us when we are sick and delivers us from danger? Nobody but GOD. Who answers prayers and sends blessings our way? Nobody but GOD. When I’m dead and in my grave who will wake me up on judgement day? Nobody but GOD. Who will allow my feet to strike Zion and help me put on my robe in glory? Nobody, Yes Nobody but GOD. I can’t prove to my friend that GOD does exist. No, all I can do is say like Kenneth Morris said in 1944 when he sat down and wrote: “There are somethings I may not know, There are some places I can’t go, But I am sure of this one thing, That GOD is real for I can feel HIM deep within. Yes, GOD is real, real in my soul. Yes, GOD is real for HE has washed and made me whole. HIS love for me is like pure gold, Yes, GOD is real for I can feel HIM in my soul.” Beloved is GOD real to you? If HE is, pray for my friend that she will know like we know that GOD is real. AMEN !!!

As I read this post it reminds me of professor I had in college. We had become very close and would sometimes have lunch together. During one of our lunch break she and I began to talk and I mentioned how God had always been good to me,at that point she told me that she was Buddhist and didn’t believe in God, up until that point I had never heard of a black person that didn’t believe in God. I became so afraid that I started to distance myself from her and even transferred out of her class. I was afraid that I would be guilty by association, that somehow God would punish me for being friends with her for not believing in him. As years went by I realized that I shouldn’t fear the one man that loves me most, but to pray that he will change the hearts of those who do not believe. So I say to you dear reverend although you may feel that your job will be hard remember who is in charge ‘GOD’.
Yes, for all the things that I have been through I know and believe that nothing but God could have saved me from myself. I love and adore him and praise his name forever more.
