It’s a “Jesus Is My Savior” Saturday.
LORD, WE THANK YOU FOR SAVING OUR SOUL AND SHOWING US HOW TO LIVE. AMEN.
At the close of church one Sunday a brother approached me with a criticism. “I don’t like your way of preaching,” he said. “I do not care for all this talk about Jesus dying for the lost. Instead of preaching the death of Christ on the cross, it’s better to be up-to-date. You should be preaching about Jesus, the teacher and example for man.” So I asked him, “Would you then be willing to follow him if I preached Jesus as the great example?” “I would,” said the brother. “I will follow in His steps.”
Then I said, “let us take the first step. ‘Who did not sin’, as we read in 1 Peter 2:22. Can you take this step?” The brother seemed confused. “No,” he said, “I do sin, I must admit.” So I responded and said “That’s why I preach what I preach because your first need of Jesus is for Him to be your Savior then your example.” So is He your Example or your Savior or Both?
