It’s a “Tribute To My Cousin” Day
LORD, WE THANK YOU FOR THE TIME WE HAD WITH KEVIN. MAY HE FIND ETERNAL REST AND PEACE IN HEAVEN. AMEN
Today I want to share with you the following tribute written by Wayne Slappy to honor my cousin Kevin Bruce, who passed on July 6, 2014.
“INIMITABLE!!!”
Stop it! He’d say with a playful grin, as he sang, helped, probed, prodded, nodded, joked, or poked holes through. Until he vaulted platinum, coated, suited, and booted solutions to whatever rough-and-tumble, tussle, ruffle, or confounding kafuffle you found yourselves in. See those of you, who like me, got a chance to and be in his presence knew then and know now and forever more…No, ifs, ands, buts, how’s or doubts about it…That this Kevin, Who just danced into Yahweh-Allah-God-Our Creator’s Heaven, was, is, and always willed to be simply…Inimitable!!
Stop it! Stop trying to fit him in anyone’s box…There’s just no parallel, no conundrum, no Sphinx’s paradox… None…No matter its vastness, depth, shape, or size…Not one and no one’s minimal attempt to frame. None should, could, or would grasp, contain, maintain or restrain how truly wise, my friend, colleague, and brother, this Bruce became. Of those who dared to care or breathe Mother’s earth’s current air, He was one-in-seven-billion rare! Inimitable!!
Stop it? Nah, Nah… No mere mortal could top it! Ask his family: Michael, Gerald, Christian, Beverly (even Damian) or Imelda and Geralyn…Don’t forget Brandell, Kevin, Jr., Chelsey or Diane… Big Papa was duly cooler than any fan. Man! Flustered by pledging beneath his dignity. Kevin even started his own Fraternity…Not for long, that’s when Beta Omega Kappa was born. Talk about dapper! Talk about blessed! Very few could impress or dress better ‘because he wore the best. Imagine rolling, riding, and listening to him blow, sounding at least as good as or better than the star on the radio! His inner goodness wore greatness vast and bold. His brilliance bore light the Wisdom of Solomon would hold. A true leader though the second of eight siblings, born to Imelda and William in the City of Brotherly Love. After his ashes have become ashes and thus his dust returns to dust, His truly unique spirit will have already joined the Holiest of Holies above. Kevin Adrian Francis Bruce was, is, and always willed to be simply“Inimitable!!!
